Working Foreman (Carpentry Background) – Residential Construction

About BuildTech
BuildTech is a Design & Build contractor specialising in high-quality residential construction projects across Dublin, including extensions, renovations, one-off homes, and deep retrofit works.
We are continuing to grow our site delivery team and are looking for an experienced Working Foreman with a strong carpentry background to join the company on a long-term basis.
Our projects are residential, detail-focused, and hands-on, with an emphasis on quality workmanship, organisation, and strong communication between site and office teams.
About the Role
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who is comfortable both coordinating site activities and contributing on the tools where required.
You will typically be responsible for two primary projects, with ongoing support from the Construction Manager and internal team.
This role would suit:
- An experienced Working Foreman already running residential projects
or
- A strong Lead Carpenter looking to step into a more senior site leadership position
While carpentry remains an important part of the role, the primary focus is site coordination, delivery, and keeping projects progressing smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Site Coordination & Delivery
- Oversee the day-to-day running of residential construction projects
- Coordinate subcontractors, direct labour, and deliveries
- Manage workflow, sequencing, and site organisation
- Ensure works are progressing in line with programme
- Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and housekeeping
- Act as the main on-site point of contact
Communication & Planning
- Liaise with the Construction Manager and office team
- Attend weekly planning and coordination meetings
- Identify issues, delays, or constraints early
- Maintain clear and professional communication with clients where required
Carpentry & Hands-On Works
You should be confident carrying out and overseeing:
- Flat roofs and roof structures
- First fix carpentry
- Second fix carpentry
- Hanging doors, skirting, and architraves
- Flooring and general residential finishes
Requirements
- Proven residential construction experience
- Strong carpentry background across first and second fix works
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and site workflow
- Good understanding of residential sequencing and delivery
- Ability to take ownership of a residential project from start to finish
- Ability to read drawings and work independently
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Full driver’s licence required
