JOB TITLE: Laboratory Technician – Chemistry (Temporary)
BUSINESS UNIT: Food Ingredients
FUNCTION: Quality Department
REPORTING TO: Senior Chemist
LOCATION: Nenagh, Co Tipperary
PURPOSE:
To conduct all chemistry and associated laboratory testing. Perform general laboratory technician duties.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to the following:
- Collecting samples from the required departments at the required frequency
- Understanding and following Standard Operating Procedures
- Testing samples as per the appropriate testing schedule in particular butter, milk and powder samples as required.
- Communicating key testing and out of specification information in a time appropriate manner to the relevant stakeholders
- Managing any out of specification results against customer requirements
- Sending and recording details of customer samples
- Entering results in a timely manner to the relevant system, LIMS, MOVEX etc.
- Trending Data and lab results.
- Organising/liaising with external testing providers as required within the designated timeframes
- Managing lab powder samples and their storage
- Managing and maintaining sufficient stocks of required chemicals
- Providing cover to other areas of the Laboratory as required
- 5s – Management of laboratory
- Any other duties as directed by your manager
QUALIFICATION
- Minimum Diploma in Food Chemistry / Bioscience/ Laboratory Science or equivalent.
- Experience in a testing laboratory, ideally in a Dairy Environment.

- Strong analytical ability and attention to detail
- Team-worker with strong interpersonal, communication skills and continuous improvement mind-set
- Food handling and Good Laboratory Practice knowledge
- Computer literacy is essential.
- A high level of English verbal and written fluency is required.
