Eliza Lodge Nursing Home is looking for a caring, enthusiastic and creative Activities Assistant to join our team.
Our residents are at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with older people and can bring energy, creativity and new ideas to our activities programme.
The successful candidate will help organise and deliver meaningful, enjoyable activities that reflect the individual interests, abilities and needs of our residents and contribute positively to their overall wellbeing and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver a varied programme of activities for residents.
- Get to know residents' individual interests, hobbies and preferences and tailor activities accordingly.
- Encourage participation while respecting each resident's individual choices and abilities.
- Organise individual and group activities that promote social interaction, independence and wellbeing.
- Work closely with the care team to ensure activities are appropriate to residents' needs.
- Maintain records of residents' participation and engagement.
- Build links with local community and voluntary groups and encourage community involvement within the nursing home.
- Communicate positively with residents, families, visitors and colleagues.
- Promote dignity, respect and person-centred care at all times.
- Follow all relevant nursing home policies, procedures and health and safety requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience working with older people, preferably in a nursing home or residential care setting.
- A caring, patient and friendly personality with a positive outlook and good sense of humour.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for developing new activities and ideas.
- An interest or skill in areas such as music, arts and crafts, gardening, baking, cooking, knitting or exercise would be an advantage.
- QQI/FETAC Level 5 in Healthcare or a related area is desirable but not essential.
- Dementia training and experience would be an advantage.
- Sonas or ImaginationGYM training would also be an advantage.
- Relevant mandatory training is desirable; however, training can be provided where required.
