Engineering Technician (SMT)

Position Summary
Realtime Technologies is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Engineering Technician to join our Engineering team. This role is ideal for someone with experience in electronics manufacturing who is looking to further develop their engineering skills within a high-reliability manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will provide technical support to the Engineering team during New Product Introductions (NPI), process development, and continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with Engineering, Production and Quality, the Engineering Technician will help ensure manufacturing processes are efficient, repeatable and capable of meeting the demanding requirements of the aerospace, medical device, industrial and automotive sectors, while supporting compliance with AS9100, ISO 13485 and other applicable quality management systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day technical support to the Engineering team.
- Support New Product Introductions (NPI) from prototype through to full production.
- Create, optimise and maintain SMT placement machine programs.
- Generate, validate and maintain Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) programs.
- Develop and maintain Selective Soldering programs.
- Verify and optimise reflow oven profiles for new and existing products.
- Prepare and verify SMT feeder setups and component loading for engineering and production builds.
- Assist with engineering builds and process validation activities.
- Participate in First Article Inspections (FAI) and engineering verification activities.
- Assist in process development, optimisation and continuous improvement projects.
- Create, update and maintain Process Assembly Instructions (PAIs), work instructions and other manufacturing documentation.
- Record process observations and recommend improvements to maximise quality, efficiency and yield.
- Assist with equipment calibration, validation and scheduled preventative maintenance.
- Support root cause investigations and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Assist with the introduction and validation of new equipment, tooling and manufacturing processes.
- Support process capability studies and data collection for engineering analysis.
- Work closely with Production and Quality departments to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and 5S within the engineering department.
- Comply with all company Health & Safety and Environmental procedures.
Essential
- Diploma, Higher Certificate, Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Electronic Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
Experience
Essential
- 1–5 years' experience within an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Good understanding of SMT manufacturing processes.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem solving.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable
- Experience programming SMT placement equipment.
- Experience creating AOI inspection programs.
- Experience with Selective Soldering equipment and programming.
- Experience developing and validating reflow oven profiles.
- Experience with SMT process optimisation and troubleshooting.
- Experience with SPI (Solder Paste Inspection) systems.
- Experience using X-ray inspection equipment for electronic assemblies.
- Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC J-STD-001 standards.
- Knowledge of IPC-7711/7721 rework and repair standards.
- Experience working within AS9100, ISO 13485 and/or ISO 9001 certified manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Six Sigma Green Belt awareness or training.

Pay: €35,000.00-€40,000.00 per year
