Chevron College is looking to add a Junior Healthcare Tutor to its team for a 9 month contract to cover maternity leave
The responsibilities for this role are outlined below:
Programme Delivery & Student Support:
- Deliver Chevron programmes within a weekly schedule and fixed terms, as agreed with the Programme Leader. You could have multiple cohorts or terms running concurrently.
- Facilitate learner induction, providing ongoing support via email, phone, VLE, online delivery, and classroom mentoring.
- Support learner engagement and progress, identifying and addressing academic challenges.
- Report any student academic or welfare difficulties to the Programme Leader
Teaching & Assessment:
- Employ a range of appropriate methodologies and teaching resources to deliver course content effectively.
- Set, mark, and return module assessments in line with validation requirements and Chevron’s QA procedures.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students to enhance their learning experience.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Monitor academic standards and QA measures for assigned programme modules.
- Ensure adherence to validation requirements and institutional policies.
- Attend programme review and staff development meetings.
Course Development & Continuous Improvement:
- Assist in ongoing programme development, including updating module content, assessment materials, and new module creation.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to programme delivery.
- Engage in continuing professional development (CPD) to stay current in subject expertise and online teaching practices.
Collaboration & Teamwork:
- Work closely with other lecturers/tutors, administrators, support staff, QA teams, management, and collaborative education partners.
- Participate in meetings and discussions aimed at improving programme delivery and learner outcomes.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Minimum of QQI level 7 in a healthcare-related qualification such as Social Care or Healthcare
- Trainers must have experience working in a health or social care setting (the ideal candidate will have experience in residential care for older people or people with disabilities and be aware of practical care skill tasks)
- Strong technical abilities are a must as this is an online college.
- Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness.
- Verbal and written communication skills in English
- Proactive approach to supporting and developing others.
- Genuine interest in healthcare education
- Experience in education and training is desirable but not essential as training will be provided
- Train the Trainer qualification in Training, Delivery and Evaluation desirable but not essential as training will be provided
