The Fire Engineer / Industrial Fire Projects Engineer supports the delivery of high-quality Fire & Life Safety System solutions for clients primarily within life sciences, pharmaceutical, high-tech manufacturing, and utilities sectors. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of Industrial Fire Regulations & Fire Systems (Industrial – IS 3218) at an engineering level, enabling them to work closely with Design Engineers, Large Manufacturing Clients, and the Sales & Commissioning Teams. Understanding the end-to-end commissioning of fire systems in an industrial setting would be necessary.

The Role
The Fire Projects Engineer – Fire & Life Safety Systems will be responsible for oversight and direction for engineering design, technical documentation, and design-phase support across complex industrial projects. Understanding Industrial Fire Systems Regulations & Compliance to instruct the Design Engineering Team internally.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the design, detection and fire alarm systems team, in compliance with I.S. 3218:2024, EN standards, and client requirements
- Support and maintain engineering documentation, including:
- System layouts and architectures
- Wiring diagrams and schematics
- Cable schedules, I/O lists, and instrument indexes
- Cause & Effect matrices and system narratives
- Support integration with fire and gas detection, suppression systems, BMS, and related control systems
- Review tender documents, specifications, and design criteria to develop compliant and buildable solutions
- Resolve technical and interface challenges using sound engineering judgement
Project & Technical Support
- Provide technical support to Project Managers, commissioning teams, site engineers, and vendors
- Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and compliance activities
- Respond to RFIs and technical queries during project execution
- Participate in client and internal design reviews
- Support change control and design revisions throughout projectS
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare and review engineering documentation, including RAMS, risk assessments, commissioning packs, and as-built drawings
- Compile O&M manuals and final handover documentation
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, client, and internal quality standards
- Maintain strong document control and traceability throughout the project lifecycle
Required Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- Degree, trade qualification, or equivalent experience in Electrical, Instrumentation, or E&I Engineering
- Experience with Industrial Fire Regulations
- Strong knowledge of I.S. 3218:2024 and related standards
- Experience supporting the production of structured engineering documentation
Desirable
- Experience within pharmaceutical, life sciences, semiconductor, or high-tech manufacturing sectors
- Knowledge of VESDA, suppression systems, gas detection, or integrated life safety systems
- Familiarity with BMS, PLCs, or regulated project environments
