The Role
The Fire Detection Service Assistant will support the detection service team by managing parts and stock, preparing and delivering materials to engineers and sites, and assisting on a two person jobs.
This is a development role the suitable candidate will be trained and supported on the job to progress to a qualified Fire Alarm Engineer.
Essential Criteria:
- Full, clean driving licence (significant driving and deliveries involved).
- Practical aptitude and confidence with basic hand tools.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise work and manage challenging workload.
- Flexible, adaptable and can-do attitude to work.
Desirable Criteria:
- Previous experience in a trade, labouring, stores or logistics role.
- Any prior Fire, Electrical or Security Systems exposure.
- Recognised site card (e.g. Safe Pass).
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain stock levels, carry out stock takes, replenish and order parts, keep the stores and van stock organised and correctly labelled.
- Pick, prepare and kit out parts and equipment for engineers' scheduled jobs so they are ready to collect or loaded in advance.
- Drop parts and materials to site as required, collect materials, and support engineers with anything they need on the road.
- Assist engineers on two-person jobs — cable runs, mounting and wiring detectors, sounders and call points, and supporting testing and commissioning under supervision.
- keep tools and test equipment maintained and accounted for, and complete delivery notes, job sheets and basic paperwork accurately.
