We are seeking an experienced Senior Strategic Sourcing Specialist to play a critical role in advancing cutting-edge neurology medical devices. Job Overview
This role serves as a senior individual contributor responsible for the strategic sourcing of direct materials and manufacturing-critical components within a regulated MedTech environment.
The position partners closely with Product Development, Supplier Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, and Operations to ensure that suppliers of direct materials (components, assemblies, raw materials) are aligned with technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and commercial objectives.
The role has end-to-end ownership of category strategy across direct spend, including supplier selection, cost optimisation, performance management, and supply risk mitigation. It also plays a key role in advancing Strategic Sourcing through best-in-class processes, tools, and governance.
Success in this role is defined by tangible business impact on product cost, supply continuity, and manufacturing performance, alongside strong cross-functional influence.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute category strategies for direct materials and manufacturing components, aligned with cost, innovation, and supply resilience goals
- Act as the commercial and strategic owner for direct material categories, including supplier selection, negotiation, and contracting
- Partner with engineering and NPI teams to source components for new product introductions, design changes, and lifecycle management
- Drive measurable performance across cost, quality, delivery, and supply risk KPIs
- Lead supplier engagement at a senior level, including QBRs, performance management, and capability development
- Ensure suppliers meet GMP, ISO, and regulatory standards, supporting qualification, audits, and compliance activities
- Identify and mitigate risks across the end-to-end supply chain (single source, capacity, technical risk, obsolescence)
- Support capacity planning and demand alignment with operations and suppliers
- Deliver cost reduction initiatives through design collaboration, supplier negotiation, and should-costing approaches
- Drive adoption of sourcing tools, analytics, and governance across the function
- Act as a subject matter expert in direct materials sourcing within a regulated manufacturing environment
Experience Required
Typically requires 7–10 years of experience in direct materials sourcing or category management, ideally within MedTech or another regulated manufacturing environment (e.g. pharma, aerospace, automotive).
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven ownership of direct materials categories
- Components, assemblies, plastics, metals, electronics, or critical raw materials
- Strong experience supporting manufacturing / production environments
- Deep understanding of supplier qualification, validation, and performance management in GMP / ISO environments
- Experience working closely with engineering teams (NPI, design changes, specifications)
- Strong commercial acumen with advanced negotiation and supplier contracting experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage technical suppliers with complex quality and regulatory requirements
- Track record of delivering measurable results across cost, quality, delivery, and continuity of supply
- Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders without authority
