LOCATION: The beautiful grounds of St Kieran’s College in the vibrant city of Kilkenny. Working from home, at agreed times will be considered.
CONTRACT TYPE: 2-year Fixed contract with 2-year extension option subject to performance.
WORKING HOURS: Full time – Mon to Friday. 37.5hr/ week standard contract. 24 days annual leave.

Person Specification
We are seeking highly motivated individuals who are passionate about climate action and wish to join a multidisciplinary team driven to help achieve the Climate Action Plan 2030 across energy users in the Southeast Region. Finance professionals with excellent attention to detail and a demonstrable capacity for delivering accurate work on time in a busy working environment. We are looking for solution-focused people who are willing to bring a dynamic approach to the role. Candidates will have excellent verbal and written skills to translate complex financial data to a diverse range of stakeholders.
Role Overview
· Reporting to the Finance Manager.
Accounting
· Issue sales invoices, allocate payments, and assist with credit control.
· Input and process purchase invoices and code to correct projects, cost codes, etc.
· Process monthly travel expenses.
· Handle and support the financial grants/claims process.
· Record and maintain accurate and complete financial records.
· Prepare information for month-end management accounts.
· Prepare VAT and statutory returns.
· Bank Reconciliation and Maintaining the Prepayments and Accruals Schedule
· Assist with year-end procedures and monthly reporting as required.
· Work with SAGE 50 bookkeeping software.
· Perform filing and general accounting duties
· Manage timesheet templates and queries.
Customer and Administration Support
· Being a key point of contact for all departments on financial and accounting matters
· Coordinate annual audits
· Monitor daily communications and answer queries from suppliers and customers.
· Assist with filing, data entry, and general office duties.
Data Analysis and Reporting
· Compile and analyse project data, track information, and run monthly reports.
Quality and Compliance
· Adhere to the company’s Quality Management System requirements, including performing work according to process documents, procedures, and maintaining necessary records
· Understand and apply quality and environmental policy statements in all aspects of work
· Ensure that the needs and requirements of the company’s customers are understood and delivered
· Enhance the company’s internal processes and management system by reporting corrective actions, updates, and improvement ideas
Additional Responsibilities
· Perform additional duties as assigned by the Finance Manager depending on the organisation’s workload.
· Contribute to achieving the company’s objectives.
The Ideal Candidate
Each Candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms for the position have:
- An Accounting Technician qualification or similar preferred.
- At least 2 years of practical accounting experience, working in a busy office.
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Excellent technical skills – proficient in Office365, Sage, and data analysis.
- High level of accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong commercial focus.
- Good organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- A team player who inspires, challenges, and strives for results.
- The ability to be discreet and manage confidential data
Desirable
- Prior experience of working with SAGE Accounting
- Power BI experience
- Advanced Excel skills
