We are recruiting a Staff Nurse – Intellectual Disabilities for 30 hours p/week. Hours may increase over time.
The role of the Staff Nurse Intellectual Disability (ID) is to provide holistic, person-centred nursing care, promoting optimum independence, enhancing the quality of life for service users with intellectual, physical or sensory disability in all aspects of daily living.
The Staff Nurse (ID) will oversee the health & wellbeing of all members who attend Beam Services. They will promote the Safe Management & Administration of Medication within a non-nursing led organisation and act as a resource person for the staff team in terms of health, well-being and the administration of medication in the services.
The Staff Nurse (ID) will also support the development & implementation of health assessments, medication plans and all supporting documentation for members, including epilepsy plans, diabetes plans etc. They will ensure that health action plans are followed up and actioned appropriately for members. They will liaise with the local Multi-disciplinary team as necessary and identify supports and work in partnership with members and their families in terms of the members health care needs.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
· Must be registered in the Intellectual Disability Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwifery maintained by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (or be entitled to be so registered)
and/or a suitable Medical Qualification
· They must have clinical and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
· Minimum 2 years’ experience in the field of health and social care is essential.
· Proven competence in the care and support of the adults with intellectual disabilities and a genuine interest in this area is required.
· A sound knowledge and proven ability to interpret and apply legislation such as The National Standards for Adults with Disabilities.
· Applicants must have excellent communication skills and be highly motivated.
· Excellent record keeping skills are required.
· Proven ability to develop positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
· A Full Clean Manual Driving License is required as driving is an integral part of this role.
