Tanco Autowrap is a global leader in agricultural bale wrapping machinery, headquartered in Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow, Ireland. We design, manufacture and distribute machinery to dealers and distributors in over 40 countries worldwide.
We are seeking an Electronic Engineer to join our Product Development team, playing a key role in the design, prototyping and sourcing of electrical harnessing and electronic systems across our product range. This is a full-time position with an excellent remuneration package.
Main areas of responsibility will be as follows:
- Design and develop electrical harnessing and wiring looms for new and existing product lines
- Create prototype harnesses for R&D projects and pre-production units, ensuring designs meet functional, safety and manufacturing requirements
- Produce and maintain accurate electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and line diagrams using appropriate design tools
- Liaise with external vendors (harness manufacturers, component suppliers) for the sourcing, quoting and procurement of electrical harnessing and electronic components
- Manage the validation and qualification of vendor-supplied harnesses and electronic components, ensuring conformance to Tanco specifications and relevant standards
- Collaborate with the Product Development team on new product development projects, contributing electrical/electronic design input from concept through to production release
- Support production and assembly activities with electrical and electronic queries, troubleshooting and technical guidance
- Provide technical support to end users, customer support engineers and field service personnel for electronic and harnessing-related issues
- Assist in the development and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOMs), part numbering and revision control for electrical components and harnesses in Business Central
- Contribute to design verification and validation activities for electronic systems
- Support the creation and maintenance of test procedures and test programs for electronic assemblies
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes related to electronic and harnessing non-conformances
- Work with the software engineering team to integrate harnessing with control systems
- Research and evaluate new electronic technologies, components and suppliers to support continuous improvement
- Assist in prototype and pre-production unit fabrication and assembly as required
- Maintain accurate documentation and records within JIRA and relevant company systems
Education & Experience Required:
- Level 8 degree (or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a closely related discipline
- A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field is desirable but not essential

Desirable Skills
- Experience in the agricultural machinery or mobile equipment sector
- Familiarity with PLC/controller programming (Structured Text, Ladder Logic)
- Knowledge of CAN bus, ISOBUS or similar vehicle communication protocols
- Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks Electrical) for harness routing
- Understanding of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems
Location
You will be based at the company’s head office at Royal Oak Road, Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow but may be required to work or train at other locations as reasonably determined by the needs of the business.
