Due to continued growth, we are seeking an ambitious and results-driven Senior Trade Counter Sales Associate to join our team.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Senior Trade Counter Sales Associate to join our busy branch.
This role is responsible for delivering excellent customer service, driving internal sales performance, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the trade counter. The successful candidate will play a key role in building strong customer relationships, preparing competitive quotations, and maximising sales opportunities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Customer Service

Serve customers at the trade counter and handle phone enquiries promptly and professionally

Identify customer needs and provide product advice and solutions

Prepare accurate and competitive customer quotations in a timely manner

Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers

Actively upsell and maximise sales opportunities with every interaction
Sales Administration & Order Management

Check stock availability when preparing quotes and propose suitable alternatives where required

Process customer orders, including special orders, ensuring accurate pricing and delivery timelines

Liaise with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, and delivery schedules
-
Maintain agreed margin levels across all sales

Coordinate delivery schedules with transport/operations teams
Cash Handling & Compliance

Process payments accurately, ensuring all transactions match system values

Follow company procedures regarding discounts, credit notes, and refunds
-
Ensure all financial transactions comply with company policies and controls
Stock & Store Operations

Maintain a well-organised, fully merchandised trade counter and shop area
-
Monitor stock levels and report shortages to management
-
Support goods-in processes, ensuring deliveries are correctly receipted and stored

Assist with cycle counts and stock takes in line with company procedures

Work closely with warehouse and yard teams to fulfil customer orders efficiently
General Duties

Maintain a professional and courteous approach with customers, suppliers, and colleagues

Support the smooth running of daily operations within the branch

Follow all company procedures, including health & safety requirements

Undertake additional duties as required in line with the needs of the business
Skills & Experience Required
Essential

Proven experience in a trade counter or sales role (ideally in hardware, construction, or merchanting)

Strong customer service and relationship-building skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
