The Role
Laois Leisure are seeking applications for the role of Maintenance technician to join the team at Laois Leisure.
Based over the two sites of Laois Leisure, you will have responsibility for the management of all maintenance, both reactive and proactive, across the leisure centres and grounds. You will ensure that the presentation of the leisure centres and grounds are maintained to a high standard at all times.
It is essential that you have the ability to work on your own as well as part a team and can communicate effectively at all levels.
This role entails:
Facilities Co-ordination:
- In conjunction with the Management Team, oversee and co-ordinate and monitor any contractor maintenance activities, identifying issues and arranging for timely repairs when needed.
- Ensure contractor compliance with Health & Safety activities ensuring appropriate risk assessments, method statements and permits to work are in place ahead of work.
Electrical:
- Diagnose and source repairs for electrical problems in commercial appliances, including fault-finding, rewiring, and monitoring.
- Assess the parts needed for a job and place orders for those parts.
- Complete Annual PAT for all Portable Equipment and Fixed Equipment whilst recording and documenting the tests.
- Complete Annual Emergency Light Testing and Repairs whilst recording and documenting the tests.
- Complete the Planned preventive maintenance checklist for the leisure centres.
General Maintenance:
Provide general maintenance support to the management team, including:
- basic plumbing, repairing and painting/decorating of the property, including Offices, Gyms, studios etc…,
- .All tasks to be carried out in conjunction with the fault report system.
- Liaise with the Group operations manager on all maintenance issues, prioritising the workload (urgent and non-urgent). Report any damage or maintenance issues in the maintenance log. Complete any such tasks recording accurately all tasks completed and advise the Group Operations manager if a sub-contractor is required.
- Maintain effective stock control process, ensuring effective use of all stocks.
- Inspect the Buildings at regular intervals and at designated periods, to include all door closers, emergency lights and fire-fighting equipment.
- Contribute to the creation of a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programme. Deliver this PPM (e.g. statutory testing of fire panels, water temperature tests etc) as the schedule sets out, keeping accurate records.
- Record accurately all tasks completed and still required using any relevant building maintenance systems and liaise with Management team where contractors are required to fix the fault
- Contact appropriate out of hours external maintenance support where necessary
- Provide general grounds maintenance support to the management team, including attending to all aspects of grounds maintenance, including car parking facilities, green areas and internal and external areas. Maintenance of re-cycling and bin areas
- Ensuring safety and compliance always and reporting any issues or concerns discreetly to the residence manager.
- Maintain the pool plant sytems.
- Working alongside the team as a fully integrated team player.

- Be able to travel between sites
Qualifications and Experience:
- Good level of Secondary school education or equivalent.
- Proven experience of: general maintenance, basic carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating,
- Previous experience in a customer facing role -
- Good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
- Basic computer skills.
- Leisure centre maintenance an advantage
Full time - 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day working. post-holder will need to attend call-out for emergency situations and will require the use of a vehicle with a full driving license.
