Schedule and manage maintenance on Fire Life Safety equipment as per statutory requirements including Fire alarm, sprinklers, extinguishers, emergency lighting, PAT testing, Electrical Periodic Testing, thermographic surveys, insurance inspections, pressure plant, CCTV etc. Ensure that all remedial work after statutory services is completed in a timely fashion and in accordance with our purchasing policies.

Chair monthly Health & Safety Committee meetings and oversee departmental Fire/Health & Safety training, Risk assessments, COSSH, Legionella control, Asbestos register, contractor competency, contractor risk assessments and method statements, permit to work, and F Gas compliance etc.

Manage the hotel's crisis, fire, emergency, and bomb procedures and ensure that emergency procedures are practiced and enforced regularly to provide for the security and safety of guests and employees by stimulating and encouraging a general awareness of health and safety through training, planned evacuations and personal example.

Maintain a library of H&S, Water Hygiene/Legionella Control, Asbestos and Fire Logbook documentation and keep records on file for inspection by any statutory authority. Investigate and report on accidents and issue new Risk Assessments as required based on investigation findings.

Meet with the County Fire Officer annually to present all Fire Life Safety documentation and to demonstrate our compliance in advance of our Dance License application.

Prepare the annual operating budget for the Engineering Department, recommend items to be included in the Hotel's Capital budget/Long Range Investment Plan and ensure adherence with the approved budget by daily monitoring of departmental spending and advance planning and scheduling work in accordance with available funds.

Determine if Projects and Preventative Maintenance work should be done internally or through external contractors and schedule accordingly.

Tender, schedule and manage service contracts on all plant and equipment in accordance with best practice and manufacturer's recommendations.

Schedule employees daily in reaction to guest complaints, department requests and in accordance with the preventative maintenance plan. Assign work orders by priority and delegate duties to the relevant team member and personally supervise work where necessary.

Maintain a supply of inventory necessary for optimal operating efficiency by initiating purchasing orders for maintenance supplies, machinery, equipment, parts, and services as required.

Achieve the best price and suitability of product by appropriately selecting from available contractors and suppliers and review and approve all invoices in advance of payment using the Purchase Order system.

Set aside time each week for toolbox talks and to upskill the team with a view to providing them with the opportunity to progress in their careers and to ensure that the hotel has sufficient cover in an emergency or during annual leave.

Attend conferences, training, and seminars to continue professional development.

Attend weekly and monthly management meetings and liaise with Department heads daily to ensure communication lines are kept open to maintain efficiency within the Engineering department and to accept a flexible work schedule necessary for uninterrupted service to hotel guests and stakeholders.

Manage energy in line with the Hotel's Sustainability Green Programme and to reduce costs and consumption annually.
