Contract: Fixed Term | Academic Year 2026/2027 (August – June)
We are currently recruiting Learner Support Workers to support students across a number of agricultural colleges in Ireland for the 2026/2027 academic year.
This is an exciting opportunity to support learner inclusion, engagement, and student success within Ireland’s agricultural education sector. Working closely with the college teams, the successful candidate will help deliver a consistent, learner-centered support service across the college environment.
The role will suit someone passionate about education, inclusion, learner development, and supporting students to fully engage in college life and their learning journey.
The Role
The Learner Support Worker will support the development and delivery of learner support within the college, assisting students across a range of educational, personal development, and learner engagement areas.
The role involves working directly with learners, supporting inclusive practices, assisting with study supports and learner resources, and contributing to a positive and supportive learner experience across the college.
Key Responsibilities
· Work alongside the college team in delivering learner supports across the college
· Assist in identifying learner support needs in areas such as literacy, numeracy, digital skills, communication, and personal development
· Support learners with specific learning difficulties including dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and other additional learning needs
· Assist in implementing tailored supports, learning strategies, and reasonable accommodations for learners
· Support the development and delivery of learner support plans and inclusive learner initiatives
· Promote inclusive approaches to teaching, learning, and assessment across the college environment
· Assist in developing learner resources, study supports, and engagement initiatives that enhance the learner experience
· Facilitate or support learner activities such as study skills sessions, assignment support workshops, group study sessions, onboarding supports, and learner engagement events
· Identify learners who may require additional wellbeing or specialist supports and signpost appropriately through the relevant college support channels
· Maintain accurate records and complete administrative duties associated with the role
· Participate in occasional learner engagement activities or study supports outside standard working hours where required
· Flexibility to attend mandatory training days outside of your designated location may be required, with notice given in advance
Requirements
· NFQ Level 7 qualification or higher in a relevant discipline such as Education, Social Care, Psychology, Youth Work, Community Development, Disability Studies, or a related field
· Experience working in Further Education and Training, particularly in learner support
· Familiarity with the agricultural sector or agricultural education environment
· Experience supporting learners with diverse needs in an inclusive environment
· Understanding of specific learning difficulties and appropriate learner supports
· Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
· Good administration and ICT skills
· Ability to work with discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality, and GDPR awareness
Desirable
· A full driver’s license and access to a car would be an advantage, with flexibility to travel between locations if required
· Knowledge of inclusive teaching practices or universal design for learning
· Experience facilitating learner engagement, study skills, or student support initiatives
· Understanding of inclusion, equality, and learner-centered educational approaches
