Are you an experienced nursing leader with a passion for clinical excellence, team development, and person-centred care?
Cpl Healthcare is seeking multiple Assistant Directors of Nursing (ADONs) to join a variety of nursing homes across Ireland. In this role, you will ensure high-quality, resident-centred care in compliance with Irish healthcare regulations, including HIQA, NMBI standards, and relevant legislation.
You will provide clinical leadership, support nursing staff, maintain safe care practices, and contribute to continuous quality improvement within the home.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
- Support the Director of Nursing in the day-to-day clinical operations of the nursing home.
- Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred care to all residents.
- Supervise and support nursing, healthcare assistant, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Promote best practice in gerontological and dementia care.
- Participate in clinical audits, risk management, and incident investigations.
- Ensure medication management practices comply with professional and regulatory standards.
- Act as Nurse in Charge in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with HIQA standards and relevant Irish healthcare legislation.
- Assist with preparation for HIQA inspections and implementation of action plans.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation.
- Monitor infection prevention and control procedures.
- Support safeguarding and protection of vulnerable adults.
Staff Management & Development
- Participate in recruitment, induction, and retention of nursing staff.
- Support performance management and staff supervision.
- Identify training needs and facilitate ongoing professional development.
- Promote a positive working environment and effective team communication.
Resident Care
- Ensure residents’ rights, dignity, privacy, and independence are maintained at all times.
- Support care planning and regular review of residents’ needs.
- Liaise with residents, families, GPs, allied health professionals, and external agencies.
- Manage complaints and resolve concerns professionally and promptly.
Operational Responsibilities
- Assist with roster management and staffing levels.
- Support budgetary control and efficient use of resources.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure emergency procedures and health & safety policies are adhered to.
Salary & Benefits

- Salary: €55,000 - €70,000 (dependent on employer and experience)
- Annual leave: 5 weeks
