Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Night Porter to join our team in a small >50‑room hotel. Working overnight, you will be responsible for guest service, security, and maintaining cleanliness standards across the property. You will play a key role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and satisfaction of guests during out-of-hours operations.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Service & Access
- Welcome and assist guests returning to the hotel during late hours
- Control and monitor access to the property, ensuring only residents and authorised visitors enter
- Provide assistance with guest queries and requests overnight
- Handle telephone calls and relay messages as required
Security & Safety
- Maintain the security of the hotel throughout the night
- Carry out regular patrols of the building, ensuring doors and windows are secured
- Monitor for any unusual or suspicious activity and report incidents promptly
- Act as the first point of contact in case of emergency situations
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Clean and maintain the café and restaurant areas to a high standard
- Clean and restock guest and public toilets
- Ensure all public areas (lobby, corridors, entrances) are tidy and presentable
- Carry out light cleaning and basic maintenance tasks as required
General Duties
- Store and tidy linen stores
- Complete nightly checklists and maintain records of any issues or incidents
- Ensure a smooth handover to day staff at the end of the shift
Requirements
- Previous experience in hospitality or a similar role is desirable
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and stay alert throughout night shifts
- Good attention to detail and a responsible approach to security
- Physically capable of carrying out cleaning duties
- A good understanding and ability to converse in English is a must

- Overnight shifts (e.g. 11pm – 7am), including weekends and public holidays
