The Role
As a Civil Junior Engineer, you will work as part of our multi-disciplinary engineering team to bring water and wastewater projects from initial design right through to completion and handover to the client. You will have the opportunity to work alongside and learn from, industry-leading project teams, working in a one-team culture while broadening your own skill set. As a Civil Junior Engineer, you will demonstrate a willingness to learn and engage as part of an experienced delivery team involved in the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects. You will be expected to support senior staff in the daily operation and delivery of projects as well as showing progression and development within your own career. Due to the nature of the works completed by Glanua you will have an opportunity to witness a wide variety of multi-disciplinary engineering activities and will have the opportunity to grow and develop a specialised knowledge base, and develop your career in a variety of areas of project delivery from design and pricing, right through to delivery and operations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The main duties and responsibilities of the Civil Junior Engineer are outlined as follows:
Work as part of a team in the delivery of one or more projects at any one time, embracing the ethos of a "one team" culture. Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to on-site.
Assisting site teams with survey set out and as build capturing through the use of GPS, total station and 3D scanning.
Review designs and develop solutions for design-based issues. Witness design from conception through to physical delivery on site
Liaise and engage with direct delivery staff, subcontractors, suppliers, client staff, statutory bodies and members of the public
Complete take off's and manage the procurement process of materials for delivery to site.
Follow-up with suppliers on delivery dates, ensuring timely delivery in line with programme dates.
Keep appraised of the latest standards and technology through continuous professional development (CPD).
Assist with the completion of health and safety requirements on site inclusive of inductions, statutory inspections, record keeping and data collection. Show an eagerness to learn and progress in your own career. Glanua has a proven track record of developing graduates from graduation through to becoming directors within the organisation. The main knowledge, skills and experience required of the Civil Junior Engineer are outlined as follows:
Degree in Civil Engineering An interest in developing a career within an industry-leading organisation.
Ability to work as part of a team in project delivery and provide input at team meetings.
Ability to engage with suppliers and sub-contractors at procurement stage and in delivery of their scope of supply during contract delivery.
Ability to use own initiative, problem solve and adjust as issues arise during project delivery.
Good working knowledge of MS packages such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Strong communications skills with a high level of motivation.
Full driving licence
