BuildTech is a Dublin-based Design & Build Contractor specialising in residential new builds, renovations, extensions and deep retrofit projects.
As part of our continued growth, we are establishing a directly employed electrical team. We are seeking an experienced Qualified Certifier Electrician to support BuildTech’s registration as a Registered Electrical Contractor and help build and lead our in-house electrical team.
About the Role
This is initially a hands-on position covering residential electrical installation, inspection, testing, certification and quality control.
The successful candidate will act as BuildTech’s nominated Qualified Certifier and take responsibility for the technical standard and certification of our electrical works.
They will also work with our preconstruction, commercial and project management teams to develop electrical scopes and costs, review drawings and discuss electrical layouts and system options with clients.
As the team grows, the successful candidate will recruit, supervise and develop directly employed electricians and apprentices.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as BuildTech’s nominated Qualified Certifier
- Supporting BuildTech’s registration as a Registered Electrical Contractor
- Completing and overseeing residential first-fix and second-fix installations
- Inspecting, testing and certifying electrical works
- Maintaining certification, testing and calibration records
- Managing Safe Electric inspection and audit requirements
- Reviewing electrical drawings, layouts, specifications and scopes
- Supporting preconstruction estimating and variation pricing
- Discussing electrical layouts and system options with clients
- Explaining the cost and programme implications of client selections
- Ensuring additional works are priced and approved before installation
- Coordinating electrical works across multiple residential projects
- Carrying out quality inspections, snagging and fault finding
- Developing BuildTech’s electrical standards, checklists and procedures
- Recruiting, training and supervising electricians and apprentices as the team grows
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
- Be a fully qualified electrician
- Meet Safe Electric requirements to act as a nominated Qualified Certifier
- Hold a current Electrical Verification and Certification qualification
- Have extensive post-qualification residential electrical experience
- Have strong inspection, testing, certification and fault-finding ability
- Have proven leadership, supervisory or electrical contracting experience
- Be comfortable working hands-on while developing the team
- Be confident dealing directly with residential clients
- Have experience reviewing drawings, developing scopes or estimating electrical works
- Understand how client changes affect cost and programme
- Be organised, commercially aware and quality-focused
- Be comfortable using digital reporting and certification systems
Preferred Experience
- Previously acting as a Qualified Certifier
- Managing Safe Electric inspections or audits
- Running an electrical business or leading an electrical team
- Residential estimating and preconstruction
- New builds, renovations and deep retrofits
- Solar PV, battery storage, EV charging or smart-home systems
- Training and supervising apprentices
Required
- Qualified electrician
- Eligibility to act as BuildTech’s nominated Qualified Certifier
- Current Electrical Verification and Certification qualification
- Strong residential electrical experience
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience
- Safe Pass
- Manual Handling
- Full clean driving licence
- Authorisation to work in Ireland
Evidence of the qualifications required to act as BuildTech’s nominated Qualified Certifier must be provided before appointment.
