We are seeking a skilled Security Service Engineer to install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and support electronic security systems across customer sites. The role involves working with CCTV, access control, intruder alarms, intercoms, and associated security technologies to ensure systems operate reliably and meet customer and company requirements.
The successful candidate will have strong technical and troubleshooting skills, excellent customer-service abilities, and experience working with security systems in commercial, industrial, or critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, configure, and maintain electronic security systems.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and system faults.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive service visits.
- Service and maintain CCTV, access control, intruder alarm, intercom, and associated security systems.
- Configure IP-based security devices, controllers, cameras, and network equipment.
- Conduct system testing and ensure equipment operates in accordance with specifications.
- Attend customer sites to investigate faults and complete service requests.
- Provide technical support and advice to customers and internal teams.
- Complete service reports, maintenance records, and relevant technical documentation.
- Identify recurring faults and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Assist with system upgrades, replacements, and new installations when required.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, professionally, and in accordance with company procedures and relevant standards.
- Maintain a high level of customer service and represent the company professionally on site.
- Participate in an on-call or emergency support rota where required.
Essential Skills & Experience
- 5+ Years previous experience working as a Security Engineer, Service Engineer, Field Engineer, or similar technical role.
- Practical experience with electronic security systems.
- Knowledge of CCTV, access control, intruder alarms, and/or intercom systems.
- Understanding of IP networking, TCP/IP, PoE, switches, and basic network troubleshooting.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and system drawings.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple service requirements.
- Full driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Manufacturer training or certifications in security systems.
- Experience with enterprise CCTV and access control platforms.
- Knowledge of network video recorders (NVRs), video management systems (VMS), and cloud-based security platforms.
- Experience with Windows-based security applications and servers.
- Electrical, electronic, networking, or engineering qualifications.
- Relevant security industry certifications.
