About the Role
Paddy Appliances is looking for a part-time Barista to join our coffee machine workshop team.
This is a little different from a traditional café barista position. Instead of serving customers throughout the day, you'll use your barista and coffee knowledge to help us test, descale and quality-check coffee machines following repair and servicing.
You'll work with a wide variety of domestic espresso and bean-to-cup coffee machines, making coffee, testing extraction, checking grinders and milk systems, and helping ensure machines are performing correctly before they are returned to our customers.
What You'll Be Doing
- Making espresso and other coffee drinks to test machine performance
- Checking espresso extraction and overall coffee quality
- Testing grinders and grind settings
- Testing steam wands and automatic milk systems
- Checking coffee temperature and machine operation
- Running descaling and cleaning programmes
- Testing machines for leaks or other operational issues
- Following our workshop testing and quality-control procedures
- Recording any issues found during testing
- Keeping the coffee testing area clean and organised
Who We're Looking For
Barista experience would be a strong advantage.
We're particularly interested in someone who already understands the basics of:
- Espresso extraction
- Coffee grinders and grind adjustment
- Milk steaming and texturing
- Espresso-based drinks
- Cleaning and maintaining coffee equipment
You don't need to be a coffee machine technician. Technical and workshop training will be provided.
We're looking for someone who is reliable, punctual, organised and has excellent attention to detail.
A Different Kind of Barista Role
If you enjoy working with coffee and coffee equipment but are looking for something different from a traditional café environment, this could be a great opportunity to develop your knowledge of coffee machines while using your existing barista skills.
You'll get hands-on experience with many different coffee machines and learn more about how they operate, are maintained and are professionally tested.
Pay: €14.15 per hour
