Maintenance and Facilities General Operative
Reports To
You will report directly to the Property Maintenance Supervisor, or such person as directed by Airport management. This reporting situation may change as the organisation responds to ongoing change and business requirements.
Purpose of Post:
To work collaboratively with the Property Manager, Property Maintenance Supervisor, and other maintenance staff to ensure the airport provides a high-quality, efficient, costeffective, and timely maintenance and facilities service — including both planned works and unplanned breakdowns.
Main Duties:
- Provide maintenance and facilities services as directed by the Property Maintenance Supervisor, covering areas such as Grass Care, Painting & Decorating, Power Washing, Jetting of Drainage, Carpark; maintenance of signage and cleanliness, snow operations and management of parking during peak times. Upkeep of building utilities, services and sanitary ware and operation of relevant plant and equipment.
- Escort and assist external contractors or tradespeople when required.
- Work with the Property Maintenance Supervisor to implement a schedule of planned maintenance and facilities works, maintaining comprehensive records of all completed tasks.
- Operate forklift for handling large deliveries.
- Maintain a safe and compliant working environment by following all Health & Safety procedures, wearing required PPE, supporting contractor supervision, securing hazardous areas, and ensuring compliance with airport safety management systems and statutory regulations.
- Be available for out-of-hours emergency works when required, including snow clearing, dealing with blockages or leaks, and making areas safe following weather events.
Position Requirement
The successful candidate will
- Have a minimum of five years’ practical experience working as a skilled labourer in a construction or facilities and maintence role.
- Hold a valid Safe Pass and demonstrate a strong awareness of Health & Safety standards.
- Hold a full, clean Category B driving licence and have experience of driving a tractor.
- Experience of operating a Forklift with relevant ticket is advantage.
- While not necessary, experience as a 180 deg or 360 excavation operator would be an advantage.
- Possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Be flexible and available to work variable hours, including outside rostered hours and weekends when necessary.
- Be self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to take initiative.
- Be reliable, trustworthy, and dedicated to maintaining high standards of work and achieving results.
- Be an effective communicator at all levels, both within and outside the organisation, and able to work well as part of a team.
- Be willing to learn and undertake the required training associated with working in a highly regulated airport environment.
