A waitress is responsible for providing excellent customer service in a dining establishment. They greet and seat guests, take their food and drink orders and ensure that their dining experience is enjoyable. This involves serving meals promptly, addressing any special requests or dietary needs and checking in with customers to ensure satisfaction. A waitress also handles billing, processes payments and maintains a clean and organised work environment, including setting and clearing tables. Additionally, they may collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure orders are accurate and delivered efficiently, all while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanour.
Here’s what you can expect to be doing day-to-day:
- Greeting customers and seating them
- Taking orders from customers
- Catering to special requests - ensuring people with allergies are safe
- Serving food and drinks on time
- Answering customer questions
- Handling cash or card payments
- Keeping the dining area clean and tidy
