The Dropping Well are currently seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious prep chef to join our team. This role is Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.

Requirements:
- The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role.
- Must be able to work well on your own initiative and to work in a team environment.
- Excellent knowledge of HACCP.
- Must be available full time.
Duties:
1. Food Preparation
- Washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients.
- Measuring and portioning ingredients for recipes.
- Preparing meats, seafood, and poultry by trimming, cutting, and marinating them as needed.
2. Assisting with Cooking
- Supporting the chefs with basic cooking tasks, such as boiling, frying, or grilling under supervision.
- Preparing simple dishes or starters like salads, soups, or side dishes.
3. Maintaining Cleanliness and Organization
- Keeping the kitchen clean and organized throughout the shift.
- Cleaning workstations, equipment, and utensils after use.
- Following hygiene and sanitation standards to maintain a safe kitchen environment.
4. Stocking and Storing Ingredients
- Assisting with the organization of food storage areas, including the fridge and pantry.
- Properly labelling and storing ingredients to maintain freshness and avoid cross-contamination.
- Monitoring stock levels and notifying the Head Chef or Sous Chef of any shortages.
5. Assisting with Plating and Presentation
- Helping with the assembly and presentation of dishes during service.
- Ensuring that all ingredients are prepared and available for the chefs during service.
6. Following Recipes and Instructions
- Accurately following recipes, portion sizes, and cooking guidelines as directed by senior chefs.
- Ensuring consistency in ingredient preparation for each dish.
7. Adhering to Food Safety Regulations
- Ensuring that all ingredients are fresh and meet safety standards.
- Complying with food hygiene regulations, including proper handwashing and the use of protective gear.
8. Handling Kitchen Equipment
- Operating kitchen equipment safely, such as mixers, slicers, or blenders, under supervision.
- Reporting any equipment malfunctions to the chef or kitchen manager.
9. Assisting in Inventory Management
- Helping to receive deliveries and checking the quality of incoming stock.
- Assisting with stock rotation to minimize waste and maintain freshness (FIFO method).
10. Learning and Development
- Taking direction from senior chefs and developing cooking skills by observing and assisting in various kitchen tasks.
- Attending any training or workshops to enhance culinary knowledge and kitchen techniques.
