Irish Door Systems Ltd is seeking a reliable, technically minded and team-focused person to join our production team, with primary responsibility for steel shot blasting and metallisation and close collaboration with our dedicated powder coating operator.
This is a hands-on production role within a varied manufacturing environment where no two projects are necessarily the same. The successful candidate will play an important part in the preparation, protection and finishing of steel door, window and glazing systems, while also having the opportunity to develop skills across other areas of our production facility.
The Role
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Shot blasting of fabricated steel components, frames and assemblies.
- Preparation of steel surfaces to the required standard prior to metallisation and powder coating.
- Metallisation of steel components in accordance with production and quality requirements.
- Working closely with our powder coating operator to ensure products are prepared, processed and finished correctly.
- Inspection of components before and after blasting and metallisation.
- Maintaining good housekeeping and organisation within the blasting and finishing areas.
- Taking care of production equipment and reporting maintenance or operational issues promptly.
- Following all health, safety and quality procedures associated with blasting, metallisation and finishing processes.
- Supporting the wider production team when required.
Cross-Training & Development
We are looking for someone who wants to develop rather than remain limited to one production process.
The successful candidate will be encouraged to cross train in areas such as:
- Steel door and window assembly.
- Automatic door assembly.
- Hardware and component installation.
- General fabrication and production preparation.
- Finishing and quality control.
- Other specialist production processes carried out within Irish Door Systems.
Previous experience in every area is not required. A willingness to learn, develop new skills and take responsibility for the quality of your work is more important.
The Person We Are Looking For
The right person will:
- Be practical, dependable and comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.
- Have a strong willingness to learn.
- Work extremely well as part of a team.
- Take pride in producing good quality work.
- Be willing to assist colleagues and move between different production activities when required.
- Be safety conscious and capable of following established procedures.
- Be organised and capable of keeping their work area clean and efficient.
- Be comfortable working independently once trained.
- Have a positive attitude towards training, cross-skilling and continuous improvement.
Experience in shot blasting, metallisation, powder coating, painting, fabrication, welding, steelwork or industrial production would be an advantage, but we are also interested in people with good practical ability who are willing to be properly trained.
