About the Role
We are seeking an organised, proactive, and hands-on Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance operations of our bus fleet. This is a key role responsible for ensuring our vehicles remain safe, roadworthy, compliant, and available for service while leading and supporting our workshop team.
The successful candidate will have excellent organisational skills, experience in fleet maintenance, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the ordering and sourcing of vehicle parts and workshop supplies.
- Maintain accurate stock levels and carry out regular stock takes.
- Schedule and book vehicle inspections, including CVRTs, NCTs, LPSV Inspections, tachograph calibrations, and other statutory compliance requirements.
- Keep Online fleet maintenance records accurate and up to date.
- Respond to maintenance-related calls from drivers and coordinate appropriate actions.
- Supervise and support mechanics, ensuring work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Assist with vehicle breakdowns and organise repairs or recovery as required.
- Ensure all buses are compliant with road safety and maintenance regulations.
- Monitor and ensure drivers complete daily vehicle walkaround checks and defect reporting.
- Plan and monitor six-week preventative maintenance inspections for all vehicles.
- Liaise with suppliers, external repairers, and regulatory bodies when required.
- Promote a safe, clean, and efficient workshop environment.
- Liaise with General Manager and Operations Manager on a daily basis to ensure smooth movement of vehicles between services.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in a fleet maintenance, workshop management, or transport maintenance role.
- Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle maintenance and compliance requirements.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Computer skills and experience maintaining digital fleet records is essential.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
Desirable
- Experience managing PSV/HGV fleets.
- Knowledge of CVRT regulations and preventative maintenance scheduling.
- Full clean driving licence (Category D licence would be an advantage but is not essential).
