Our Lady of Fatima Home is a private not-for-profit nursing home in Tralee founded by the Dominican Sisters for the purpose of providing residential care for older people, those with illness, and those requiring palliative care. We are a 68-bed home, offering a calm, dignified, and supportive environment just moments from Tralee town centre.
We are now seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead our operations, working in close partnership with our Director of Nursing to ensure the highest standards of care and service delivery.
Your role will be to:
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the nursing home, ensuring a high-quality, safe, and efficient service delivery.
- Support the Director of Nursing (DON) to deliver effective patient centred nursing care in compliance with HIQA regulations and statutory requirements.
- Oversee financial and operational performance through effective budget management, workforce planning, and efficient resource allocation.
- Provide visible, hands-on leadership across the home, motivating teams, supporting development, and fostering a positive, inclusive working environment.
- Drive service improvement and implement operational and strategic initiatives that enhance resident care and organisational performance.
- Report regularly to the Board of Management (BOM) on key performance indicators as defined by the BOM
- Keep the BOM appraised of any significant development(s) within the home.
- Support and maintain an environment which reflects the Dominican Sisters’ ethos, ensuring that compassion, dignity, and respect remain at the heart of everything we do.
In addition you will take direct responsibility for non-clinical aspects of the home management such as:
- Operations, Facilities and Housekeeping
- Catering, Nutrition and Kitchen Management (including HACCP)
- Human Resources and Administration
- Front-of-House and Resident Experience
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will be a proactive, hands-on leader with a proven track record in operational management. We welcome applications from candidates with experience in healthcare management, hotel management, or other service-led environments where quality and customer experience are paramount.
Essential requirements:
- Significant experience in operations management, with a demonstrable record of leadership and delivery.
- Strong financial acumen, including budget management and workforce planning experience.
- Excellent working knowledge of GDPR, Data Protection Acts, and Information Governance.
- Thorough understanding of compliance, Health & Safety, and HR processes.
- Proven ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to inspire others.
- Qualifications and/or substantial experience in nutrition, kitchen management, and HACCP.
Desirable:
- Experience working in a nursing home, healthcare setting, or hotel environment.
- A relevant third-level qualification in business, healthcare management, or a related discipline.
Pay: €50,000.00-€80,000.00 per year
