Job Description:
iCARE Ltd. provides respite, training, support and information for families who have children with autism from the Inishowen region of Donegal. The centre is seeking to recruit a Support Worker.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in the area of autism and learning disability. They will demonstrate empathy and an ability to respond on an individual basis to needs. In their capacity as a Support Worker, they must ensure the needs of all participants are addressed equally.
- Deliver programmes to participants of the child/adult Service on a daily basis in an engaging and energetic manner.
- Provide direct practical help, support and guidance to people who use the services.
- Follow the personal outcomes evaluating system, ensuring the best possible outcome
for each individual in each aspect of their life and respect their child/adult status and
rights at all times.
- Update the personal outcomes/plans and participate in regularly checking the individuals
needs.
- Support the individual, implementing all care, intimate care, training programmes, and other programmes such as work experience, gaining employment and requested.
Essential:
Each candidate ideally should possess the following qualifications and experience:
· A minimum FETAC level 6 or equivalent in Education/social work/psychology/ health & social care or related area;
· Knowledge and experience of working with people with an intellectual disability/autism;
· A positive attitude towards working with people with an intellectual disability and enabling them to have a positive and fulfilling lifestyle;
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
