Your new company is a leading Tier 1 construction contractor with a strong presence across Ireland and internationally. Known for delivering high-quality, complex projects across multiple sectors, they are committed to innovation, collaboration, and excellence in project delivery. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join their Cork-based team.
Your new role
As a Senior Planner, you will play a key role in leading planning and project controls across both pre-construction and live project phases. You will be responsible for developing and managing detailed programmes, ensuring alignment across design, procurement, and construction activities.You will support project teams through accurate planning, monitoring progress, identifying risks, and providing clear reporting to senior stakeholders. The role also includes mentoring junior planners and contributing to continuous improvement in planning standards and processes.
Key responsibilities include:

Developing and managing baseline and target programmes across all project phases

Producing tender and procurement schedules aligned with design and construction deliverables

Monitoring progress, maintaining as-built programmes, and analysing variances

Identifying programme risks and implementing mitigation strategies

Producing 4D/2D visual planning outputs to support project delivery

Supporting change management processes through programme impact analysis

Leading programme reporting for internal and client-facing stakeholders

Mentoring and supporting junior planning team members
What you'll need to succeed
- A degree (or equivalent experience) in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline

Proven experience in a Senior Planner role within construction or major projects

Strong expertise in planning software such as ASTA Powerproject

Solid understanding of construction sequencing, methodologies, and programme logic

Experience in progress tracking, reporting, and programme risk management

Knowledge of contract conditions such as NEC or JCT (desirable)

Strong communication and leadership skills
