All-Star Deliveries ULC was founded in 1996 and has built a successful fleet of trucks and vans servicing national and multinational companies throughout Ireland.
In 2004, All-Star Logistics ULC was established, providing logistics and storage solutions, including a specialised washing operation for reusable packaging such as crates, plastic pallets, totes, boxes, lids and trays.
As a result of continued growth, we now have an exciting opportunity for an Accounts & Business Improvement Analyst to join our team in Newcastle West on a permanent basis.
About the Role
The primary focus of the role will be accounts and financial administration, with additional responsibility for analysing financial and operational information to support transport and logistics efficiency, cost control, compliance and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will work mainly within Finance but will also liaise with our Transport, Warehousing and Production teams to monitor performance, investigate variances and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and control costs.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts & Finance
- Completing weekly and monthly payroll requirements.
- Weekly and monthly customer invoicing.
- Month-end reconciliations including debtors, creditors, bank and intercompany accounts.
- Completing monthly and bi-monthly tax returns and ensuring Revenue compliance.
- Monitoring debtors and creditors and agreed credit limits.
- Responding to internal and external financial queries.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate financial records and spreadsheets.
- Assisting with internal audits, audit compliance and internal controls.
- Assisting with monthly financial statements and management reporting.
- Identifying and investigating financial variances where required.
Transport and Logistics, Cost Control & Compliance
- Supporting the review of transport /Logistics costs and operational efficiency.
- Monitoring areas such as vehicle utilisation, mileage, fuel costs, delivery efficiency and subcontractor costs.
- Analysing transport / Logistics data to identify trends, unnecessary costs and opportunities for improvement.
- Assisting with monitoring transport-related compliance information and records.
- Highlighting potential compliance issues or areas requiring attention to the relevant manager.
- Supporting the development and monitoring of transport KPIs and performance measures.
- Working with the Transport / Logistics team to understand variances in costs or performance and identify practical improvements.
Data & Business Improvement
- Maintaining spreadsheets and databases to record and monitor financial and operational information.
- Supporting management reporting by combining financial and operational data.
- Analysing warehousing, production and distribution costs to identify potential savings and efficiencies.
- Monitoring key costs and highlighting unusual or significant changes.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste and control costs.
- Assisting with the implementation and monitoring of agreed improvements.
- Providing ad hoc analysis and reporting as required.
Experience & Qualifications
- Accounting experience is essential.
- 3 years' experience in a similar role is desirable.
- Experience with Revenue and payroll is desirable.
- Experience with transport, logistics or operational data would be an advantage.
- An understanding of transport compliance requirements would be an advantage.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools would be an advantage.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both Finance and operational teams.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone with a strong accounts background who is comfortable working with data and interested in the wider operation of the business.
The successful candidate will be analytical and detail-oriented, with an interest in understanding where costs arise, how transport resources are being used, whether processes are operating efficiently and whether required records and controls are being maintained.
The main responsibility will be within Finance/Accounts, with additional involvement in transport/ Logistics efficiency, compliance, cost control and wider business improvement.
The role will develop over time in line with the needs of the business.
