Position: Chef (Full Time)Hours

Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Chef to lead the kitchen operation at Well Café. The successful candidate will be responsible for food preparation, service, kitchen organisation, HACCP compliance, stock management, and maintaining consistently high food standards.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in producing fresh, high-quality food while working efficiently in a busy café environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Service
- Prepare and cook all menu items to Well Café standards
- Manage breakfast, lunch, and seasonal menu offerings
- Prepare ingredients and complete daily prep lists
- Ensure all dishes are presented consistently and attractively
- Contribute ideas for specials and menu development
- Monitor food quality and portion control
Kitchen Operations
- Open and close the kitchen independently
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient workspace
- Ensure all equipment is used safely and maintained correctly
- Manage food storage and stock rotation using FIFO procedures
- Minimise food waste and maximise profitability
HACCP & Food Safety
- Complete all HACCP records accurately and on time
- Maintain excellent food hygiene standards
- Ensure all food is stored, labelled, and handled correctly
- Follow allergen procedures and food safety regulations
- Assist during Environmental Health inspections
Stock Control & Ordering
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages
- Assist with supplier ordering and stock takes
- Receive and check deliveries
- Ensure accurate stock rotation and inventory management
Teamwork
- Work closely with café management and front-of-house team
- Support training of kitchen assistants and junior staff
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times
- Help create an enjoyable and productive workplace culture
RequirementsEssential
- Previous chef or cook experience in a café, restaurant, or hospitality environment
- Strong understanding of food safety and HACCP procedures
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and presentation
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
Desirable
- Formal culinary qualification
- Experience with breakfast and brunch service
- Experience in stock ordering and food cost control
- Experience developing menus and specials
