A progressive local supermarket group who operates a number of well-known Supermarkets across Connacht, located in close proximity to Sligo town and within driving distance from Donegal. We are delighted to assist our client in their search for an experienced candidate for Senior Butcher Position.
Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Butcher to join their team. The ideal candidate will have strong meat preparation and cutting skills, experience operating meat processing equipment, and a customer-focused approach. You will play a key role in creating a welcoming and positive environment within the butcher department while delivering excellent product quality and service.
This position requires someone who is comfortable working on their feet for extended periods, maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene, and supporting the team to achieve departmental goals. You will also assist with stock control, minimise waste, and ensure products are presented to the highest standard. Responsibilities of Retail Butcher job
- Cut and prepare meat such as beef, pork, chicken, and seafood.
- Make sure meat is fresh, clean sourced from a reliable supplier.
- Follow food safety and hygiene rules.
- Help customers choose products and give cooking advice.
- Pack, label, and display meat products.
- Keep the counters and floor clean and tidy.
Requirements for Retail Butcher's Job
- About 1-2 of butcher experience is preferred, but experience in a meat warehouse may also be considered.
- Knowledge of different meat cuts.
- Good customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a busy environment and stand for long hours.
- Understanding of food safety rules.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items.
- Flexible to work weekends and holidays when needed.
