Financial Controller – Europe

Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to lead the European accounting and finance function from Dublin, Ireland. This role will have primary responsibility for the day-to-day accounting activities of Paladin’s European operations including, but not limited to, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), account reconciliations and the month-end close process. The Controller will build scalable processes and controls for the region and recruit and develop a finance team, as determined by the future needs of the business, to manage operational accounting activities. The role will also collaborate closely with the US finance team to support the execution of entity-wide operational accounting and finance activities, consolidated reporting and alignment of accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities Day-to-Day Accounting Ownership
· Lead the monthly close process for European entities.
· Manage and execute AP and AR functions.
· Perform balance sheet, bank and intercompany reconciliations.
· Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of entries.
· Monitor cash flow and working capital.
· Support payroll coordination and expense processing.
· Maintain fixed asset accounting.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
· Prepare monthly management accounts and variance analyses.
· Ensure timely financial reporting to corporate under US GAAP requirements.
· Ensure timely statutory reporting under IFRS and/or local GAAP requirements.
· Coordinate external audits and maintain strong audit readiness.
· Oversee VAT and regulatory compliance across European operations.
· Develop and enforce robust internal controls and accounting policies.
Build & Scale the Finance Function
· Design scalable accounting workflows and control frameworks.
· Support finance transformation initiatives including implementation of a global accounting system (Net Suite) and implementation of a specialized ERP system.
· Identify automation opportunities in finance processes.
· Recruit, train and mentor AP/AR and accounting team members as the operation grows.
· Transition daily transactional responsibilities to team members while maintaining oversight.
US & Group Collaboration
· Partner with the US finance team on consolidated reporting and intercompany accounting.
· Support alignment of accounting policies and ERP processes.
· Assist with group budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
Qualifications & Experience
· Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent).
· 6–10+ years progressive accounting experience.
· Ability to work in a fast paced, start-up entity environment
· Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and multi-entity reporting.
· Experience in a hands-on Controller, Finance Manager, or similar role.
· Exposure to US GAAP or cross-border accounting environments preferred.
· ERP and advanced Excel skills.

Pay: €100,000.00-€130,000.00 per year
