We are seeking an Assistant Finance Manager to join our Finance team and work closely with the Financial Controller across the Group’s five legal entities.
This is a broad, hands-on role covering financial accounting, credit control, month-end, reporting and finance operations. The successful candidate will take ownership of key finance processes while providing wider support to the Financial Controller and contributing to the development of robust processes and controls.
We are looking for a proactive and adaptable finance professional who is comfortable working across different areas of Finance, takes ownership of their work and is keen to use AI, automation and technology to improve efficiency. Support the Financial Controller across the day-to-day Finance function and the Group’s five legal entities.
Take ownership of key finance processes, including month-end close, reconciliations, journals, accounts payable, accounts receivable and intercompany transactions.
Prepare financial reports, KPIs and cash-flow forecasts, providing accurate and timely information to the Financial Controller and wider business.
Support audit preparation, VAT returns and other statutory finance requirements.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies, maintaining accurate ledgers and strong financial controls.
Provide financial analysis and ad-hoc support on finance projects and business requirements.
Take ownership of credit control across the Group’s five legal entities, monitoring aged debt and proactively managing overdue accounts.
Drive cash collection and work with customers and internal stakeholders to resolve billing and payment queries.
Allocate and reconcile customer receipts and maintain accurate customer accounts.
Escalate complex or problematic accounts where appropriate and provide regular aged debtor and cash collection reporting.
Use automated credit control and billing tools to support efficient and effective collections.
Identify opportunities to improve, automate and standardise finance processes.
Use AI tools such as Claude to improve efficiency across day-to-day Finance activities, including data analysis, reporting, correspondence and process documentation.
Look for ways to reduce repetitive manual work through automation and technology.
Support the development and implementation of improved finance processes and controls as the business continues to scale.
4–6+ years’ experience in finance, accounting, credit control, finance operations or a similar role.
An accounting technician qualification (e.g. ATI/IATI) or part-qualification (ACCA/CIMA), though this is not essential.
Strong understanding of core accounting principles and finance processes.
Experience with month-end close, reconciliations and journals.
Proven experience managing credit control / accounts receivable and driving cash collection.
Strong Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems.
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple priorities across different areas of Finance.
A proactive and self-starting approach, with a strong sense of ownership.
Comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for getting things done.
Experience working in both a large organisation and a start-up environment is a bonus.
A genuine interest in AI, automation and using technology to work more efficiently.
