Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Extreme Balconies is looking for a practical, mechanically minded Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team. If you're the person everyone comes to when something mechanical stops working, we'd like to hear from you.
This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys diagnosing problems, carrying out repairs and keeping machinery, vehicles and equipment in good working order.
The successful candidate will work across a wide range of equipment within our operations, from production machinery and power tools to forklifts, telehandlers and company vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on production machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs where possible.
- Perform preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns and equipment downtime.
- Maintain and carry out minor repairs on forklifts, telehandlers and other plant equipment.
- Inspect equipment regularly and identify potential issues before they result in breakdowns.
- Maintain and repair power tools and other workshop equipment.
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of company vans and other vehicles.
- Depending on experience, potentially carry out routine vehicle servicing such as oil, filter, brake and general service work.
- Carry out general mechanical repairs and maintenance across our facilities.
- Liaise with external service engineers and specialist contractors where repairs cannot be completed in-house.
- Maintain appropriate records of servicing, maintenance and repairs.
- Help manage spare parts, consumables and commonly required maintenance items.
- Ensure machinery and equipment are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition.
- Assist with identifying improvements that could increase equipment reliability or reduce maintenance costs.
What We're Looking For
We are primarily looking for someone who is mechanically minded, practical and capable of solving problems.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding ability.
- Experience maintaining or repairing machinery, plant, vehicles, agricultural equipment or similar.
- Experience working with forklifts, telehandlers or other plant equipment would be an advantage.
- Motor mechanic, plant mechanic, agricultural mechanic, fitter or maintenance experience would be highly beneficial.
- Basic electrical fault-finding knowledge would be an advantage.
- Welding or fabrication experience would be an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of maintenance issues.
- A practical approach to troubleshooting and repairs.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise breakdowns and preventative maintenance.
- Full driving licence preferred.
About the Role
This is not a repetitive maintenance position. The role covers a broad range of machinery, equipment, plant and vehicles, so it would suit someone who enjoys variety and figuring out how things work.
There is also significant scope for the successful candidate to develop the role and take increasing responsibility for preventative maintenance, plant maintenance, vehicle servicing and the overall reliability of our equipment.
