Heraeus Precious Metals Ireland is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Controller to join our Finance team on a 10-month maternity cover contract. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure across both financial controlling and operational finance activities, supporting the Site Controller in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, accounts payable, expense management, compliance, and business analysis.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, supporting month-end and year-end processes, and maintaining efficient finance operations in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Controlling
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.
- Prepare and post journal entries and assist with month-end close processes.
- Maintain general ledger accounts and perform balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support daily profit and loss, metal position, and risk reporting activities.
- Review and analyse financial transactions to ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Assist with account analysis, sub-ledger maintenance, and audit lead schedules.
- Support internal and external audit processes and quarterly reporting requirements.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to management as required.
Accounts Payable & Expense Management
- Coordinate and monitor Accounts Payable activities, ensuring accurate and timely invoice processing.
- Support invoice matching, coding, and entry into SAP and related systems.
- Liaise with vendors and Shared Service Centres to resolve invoice and payment discrepancies.
- Reconcile AP-related accounts and maintain accurate records.
- Review employee Travel & Entertainment expense claims for compliance with company policies.
- Audit receipts and supporting documentation and investigate exceptions where necessary.
- Support users of the expense management system and respond to related queries.
- Generate periodic expense reports and identify trends or anomalies.
Compliance, Controls & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure compliance with Heraeus financial reporting guidelines, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards.
- Support the review and approval of product transfers, inventory adjustments, settlements, pricing, and related transactions.
- Assist in maintaining effective financial controls and identifying process improvement opportunities.
- Participate in finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
- 1-3 years' experience in finance, accounting, controlling, or a similar role preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with Accounts Payable and expense management processes is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting functions.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems would be beneficial.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
