Position Title: Health & Safety Co-Ordinator

- Role also requires site visits across Crosscare locations
Work Schedule: Mon – Friday (9am – 5pm)
- Flexibility around busy periods will be required

Salary: € 34,999 - € 49,205 Depending on Experience
Reporting to: Facilities & Administration Manager
The Role:
The H&S Coordinator will be responsible for the administration of Crosscare’s health and safety management system, providing support and mentoring all staff on health and safety matters to drive a positive H&S culture within Crosscare.
General Responsibilities:
Control of the H&S management system documentation including version control, review and issuing documents on SharePoint. Ensuring that health and safety records are accurately archived in line with legislative and Crosscare’s requirements.
Ensuring that statutory inspections are completed for all Crosscare locations and filed away (hard copies and electronically on project SharePoint system). Liasing with Manager’s at all sites to ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities with regard to safety inspection and reporting.
Monitoring health and safety performance. Completing health and safety inspections, organising audits with consultants, ensuring standards are maintained and that any remedial actions are being addressed.
Introducing and maintenance of a digital inspection system to allow staff to complete inspections electronically.
Advising management of any updates in health and safety legislation or best practice industry guidance.
Participate in accident/incident investigations, report writing and follow-up on corrective actions.
Liaising with statutory authorities when required, e.g. HSA.
Fire safety control measures are in place and maintained and emergency drills are completed.
Overseeing the risk assessment process for Crosscare, e.g.:
Ensuring a uniform procedure is implemented across all sites for risk assessment.
Having risk assessors competent to perform this task.
Periodic review of risk assessments to ensure that they are suitable and sufficient.
Assisting in the production of method statements and risk assessments for site works.
Reviewing RA/MS for high-risk works.
Establishing and monitoring of H&S objectives / KPIs.
Providing periodic H&S updates / reports to management, such as:
A review of H&S statistics.
Findings of audits
KPI / H&S objectives.
Management of key H&S risks / effectiveness of current controls.
Legal compliance / updates.
Facilitating effective worker engagement with regard to H&S. This may include liaison with safety reps, safety committees, chairing meetings, facilitating appointment of reps, involving reps in safety tours, etc.
Communicating safety information to promote a positive safety culture within Crosscare, e.g. notice boards, intranet, ‘all staff’ emails, electronic newsletters, etc. Cross-communicating between sites to share best practices, safety alerts, safety challenges, incident findings, etc.
Reviewing training needs and identifying courses where necessary. Completing in-house training, e.g. inductions, safety presentations, toolbox talks with site staff.
Ordering goods or services as required, e.g. PPE, handbooks, consultant’s orders, software licences, etc.
Promoting regular safety or wellbeing initiatives implemented by Crosscare.
Any other duties and responsibilities of a similar level and nature may be required from time to time.
The candidate must demonstrate a strong personality with the determination required to drive the development of a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the company.
Formal qualification in health and safety will be an advantage.
Knowledge of current health and safety legislation.
Experience within an administration role with health & safety experience (preferred).
Excellent IT experience with the ability to pick up new systems and processes quickly.
Experience in supporting company processes and practices within companies.
Personal Skills/Attributes:
High attention to detail and able to maintain accurate records with experience with writing concise/accurate documentation.
Excellent use of the MS Office suite.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently and in a group setting with little direction or direct supervision.
Ability to self-motivate and proactively drive work agenda.
Ability to work flexibly to ensure deadlines are met.
Qualification Required & Experience Required
Formal qualification in health and safety will be an advantage.
