We’re looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and customer-focused Optical Assistant to join our team.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in providing excellent customer service and is interested in developing a career in optics. Previous optical experience is an advantage, but it’s not essential as full training and support will be provided.
As an Optical Assistant, you’ll be an important part of creating a welcoming and positive experience for every patient, from the moment they walk through the door.
The Role
As an Optical Assistant, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming patients and providing a warm, friendly and professional service
- Booking and managing eye test appointments
- Dealing with patient enquiries both face-to-face and over the telephone
- Listening to patients’ needs and helping them choose frames to suit their style, lifestyle and prescription
- Advising patients on our products and services
- Pre-screening patients and carrying out measurements as you develop your optical knowledge
- Supporting management and the wider team to ensure the smooth running of the practice.

We’re looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, approachable and genuinely enjoys helping people
- Confident communicating with customers both in person and over the phone
- Passionate about providing an excellent customer experience
- Professional, reliable and well organised
- Comfortable working as part of a busy team
- Confident using computers and learning new systems
- Interested in developing their knowledge and skills within the optical industry
Optical experience is not essential. We’re more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, personality and willingness to learn. Full training will be provided, with support from experienced colleagues as you develop your optical knowledge and skills.
