Job Purpose
To provide a high standard of cleaning and hygiene across all designated areas within a private day clinic (on the northside of Limerick City), ensuring a safe, clean, and pleasant environment for patients, clinical staff, visitors, and colleagues. The Cleaning Operative will carry out routine and scheduled cleaning duties in line with company standards, health and safety requirements, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning Duties
- Clean and maintain assigned areas including clinical areas, offices, corridors, washrooms, kitchens, reception areas, meeting rooms, and communal spaces.
- Follow established Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) procedures to minimise the risk of cross-contamination and maintain a hygienic environment.
- Segregate and dispose of waste correctly in line with company procedures, environmental requirements, and site-specific waste management protocols.
- Carry out daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning schedules as required.
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and disinfect surfaces to maintain cleanliness standards.
- Replenish consumables such as soap, paper towels, toilet tissue, and sanitising products.
- Clean internal glass, mirrors, fixtures, and fittings as required.
- Adhere to colour-coded cleaning systems to ensure cleaning equipment is used appropriately in designated areas and to prevent the spread of infection.
- Ensure cleaning cloths, mops, and other equipment are cleaned, stored, and replaced in accordance with infection control standards.
- Carry out enhanced cleaning and disinfection procedures in high-touch and high-risk areas as required.
Health & Safety
- Comply with all health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
- Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and in accordance with COSHH guidelines.
- Report accidents, hazards, defects, or maintenance issues promptly to the Facilities Services Lead.
- Ensure wet floor signs and other safety measures are used when carrying out cleaning activities.
Equipment & Materials
- Operate cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain cleaning equipment in good working condition and report any faults immediately.
- Monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies and report shortages to the Facilities Services Lead.
Quality Standards
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation at all times.
- Complete cleaning tasks within agreed timeframes.
- Respond professionally to requests from patients, clinical staff, and colleagues.
- Support additional cleaning requirements during audits, inspections, or special events.
Essential Criteria
Occupational Health Requirements
- Complete a satisfactory Occupational Health assessment and maintain any vaccinations or immunisations required by that assessment or client policy.
- Ability to undertake the physical demands of the role, including standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing stairs and manual handling activities.
- Ability to use and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Pay: €15.20-€16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 39.0 per week
