Job Title
Position is part time temporary, applicants must be available for weekday and weekend work.
Purpose of Post
To carry out the functions associated with the turnaround of aircrafts.
Responsibilities
To handle the turnaround of all aircrafts (passenger and freight) at Ireland West Airport Knock in a safe, security conscious, customer friendly and cost-efficient manner in the shortest possible time. This includes:
- All elements of the Baggage Handling process.
- The driving and operating of: baggage towing tractors with trollies, baggage conveyers, passenger steps, GPU, ASU, water service unit, Ambi lift, toilet truck, de-icer truck, runway/ramp sweeper, aircraft pushback tug, hi-loader.
- The operation, connection and disconnection of: GPU, ASU.
- The positioning of passenger steps to doors of aircraft and ensuring correct removal procedure is adhered too.
- The fitting and removal of aircraft engine blanks when required.
- Aircraft – Marshalling, walk around prior to departure, wing walker for moving aircraft.
- The use of flight-deck to ground headset.
- The de-icing, re fuelling and fuel tank water checks of aircrafts.
- To clean the aircraft interior.
- General housekeeping of ramp area.
- To assist with airport maintenance as required.
- Any other duties as requested by the Ground Services Supervisor, Head of Ground Services or Operations Manager.
Person Requirements
- Has full B driving license (This is a minimum requirement).
- Is reliable, trustworthy, dedicated to carrying out their function in accordance with applicable safety standards and has the ability to learn the safety implications of not carrying out their function properly.
- Is extremely responsible in relation to the functions to be carried out in close proximity to an aircraft.
- Is hard working and physically able to carry out a manual function.
- Responds well to supervision and working in a highly regulated area.
- Is a self-motivated, self-starter who demonstrates consistent ‘can do approach’.
- Has the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Is dedicated to maintaining high quality standards and achieving company results.
- Is an effective communicator at all levels both inside and outside the organisation.
- Is flexible.
- Has good problem solving and analytical skills.
- Has the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
