The Job in a nutshell
Mitie is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Manager to join our growing Projects Division.
This is a mobile role responsible for delivering a varied portfolio of commercial, retail and industrial projects across several key client accounts nationwide.
The successful candidate will take ownership of projects ranging from minor capital and maintenance improvement works through to complex refurbishment, building fabric, infrastructure and asset replacement programmes. Typical project values will range from €50,000 to in excess of €1 million.
The role requires a proactive Project Manager capable of operating in live operational environments, managing multiple stakeholders, coordinating consultants and contractors, and driving projects safely through to completion.
The position represents a key strategic appointment within the Mitie Projects Division and will support the continued expansion of Mitie's in-house project management capability across major national client accounts.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Governance
-
Deliver construction and built environment projects from inception through to completion and handover.
-
Develop project execution plans, programmes, budgets and delivery strategies.
-
Establish and maintain appropriate project governance arrangements.
-
Manage project schedules, risks, actions, decisions and dependencies.
-
Monitor project progress against programme, cost and quality objectives.
-
Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
-
Produce regular project reports for clients and internal stakeholders.
-
Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Stakeholder & Client Management
-
Develop strong working relationships with clients, consultants and project stakeholders.
-
Act as the primary point of contact for project communications and delivery matters.

Facilitate stakeholder meetings, progress reviews and project workshops.
-
Manage expectations and ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
-
Collaborate closely with operational teams, commercial teams and support functions to ensure successful project outcomes.
Consultant & Contractor Management
-
Appoint and manage consultants, surveyors and design teams as required.
-
Coordinate surveys, investigations and technical assessments.
-
Procure and manage contractors and specialist subcontractors.
-
Oversee contractor performance, programme delivery and quality standards.
-
Chair project meetings and maintain clear records of actions and decisions.

Build and maintain effective supply chain relationships.
Commercial & Financial Management
-
Prepare project budgets, forecasts and cost reports.
-
Obtain, evaluate and compare quotations and tender submissions.
-
Manage project expenditure against approved budgets.
-
Administer contractual processes including variations, change control and valuations.
-
Identify opportunities to improve value and delivery efficiency.
-
Ensure robust commercial control throughout the project lifecycle.
Quality, Compliance & Health & Safety
-
Ensure projects comply with statutory requirements, industry standards and client requirements.

Review contractor documentation including RAMS and safety submissions.
-
Conduct site inspections and quality audits.
-
Support the delivery of a positive and pragmatic safety culture.

Ensure project close-out activities are completed, including handover documentation, certifications and snagging.
Continuous Improvement
-
Support the ongoing development of project management systems, processes and reporting tools.

Contribute to lessons learned reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Share knowledge and best practice across the Projects Division.

Support the development and mentoring of junior team members, project coordinators and administrators where required.
About you:
Essential Requirements
-
Minimum 5 years' experience managing construction, refurbishment, building fabric or infrastructure projects.
-
Proven track record delivering projects safely, on time and within budget.
-
Experience working within commercial, retail, industrial, manufacturing or similar operational environments.
-
Strong contractor, consultant and stakeholder management capability.
-
Excellent organisational and project planning skills.
-
Strong commercial awareness and financial management experience.
-
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across geographically dispersed locations.
-
Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
-
Ability to work independently whilst contributing positively to a wider team.
-
Full clean driving licence.
-
Willingness to travel nationwide as required.
Desirable Requirements
-
Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, Building Surveying, Project Management or related discipline.

PRINCE2, PMP, APM, QQI or equivalent Project Management qualification.

Experience delivering roofing, building envelope or water ingress remediation projects.
-
Experience managing refurbishment and capital works programmes.
-
Knowledge of Public Works Contracts, RIAI Contracts or similar construction contract forms.

Experience using Microsoft Project, Monday.com or equivalent project management software.

Experience working in occupied or live operational environments.
