Position Description
The Fibre Design & Pre-Sales Manager (Band 5) is an integral commercial position within ESB Telecoms and sits within the Business Development & Strategy Team. The Fibre Design & Pre-Sales Manager is responsible for the creation of timely, profitable, competitive quotations for ESB Telecoms customers and is responsible for achieving defined operational KPIs.
The PreSales process begins with assessment and qualification of newly generated sales opportunities applied to ESB Telecoms capabilities and Infrastructure footprint. A solution design is assembled capturing all relevant ingredients and costs. Quotations are calculated using a combination of GIS software, market benchmarking, a commercial P&L and product rate-cards. The role is responsible for ensuring that proposed fibre solutions are deliverable, competitive and margin-aware.
In addition, the holder of this role maintains ESB Telecoms GIS mapping files, using GIS to proactively identify value-add propositions for our customers. The role is a unique mix of technical and commercial elements and will suit a motivated all-rounder with commercial acumen. It is not envisaged that candidates will have experience in all elements of the role and on the job learning will be a vital requirement.
Key Responsibilities
Maintaining the fibre network GIS files
Providing support for ESBT Sales Personnel including customer engagement
Customer discovery, GIS planning and fibre route design
GIS analysis for the purpose of supporting ESBT commercial and sales activities
Cost modelling, pricing analysis (P&L ownership) and Customer Quotations
Administration of ESBT Pre-Sales records and KPIs
Governance, standards and continuous improvement.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
Experience in fibre network design, network planning or telecom GIS modelling.
Ability to prepare maps, route drawings, bills of materials, design packs and proposal-ready technical documentation
Experience analysing route feasibility and translating engineering options into costed customer solutions
Experience in two or more of the following of the following; GIS, Customer Facing Activities, Pricing & Quotations, Telecommunications
An ability to manage your own workload and “own” the process
Significant knowledge of GIS applications such as ArcGIS / FME / QGIS / Smallworld or similar geospatial platforms
Desirable
Prior knowledge of the Irish Wholesale Telecommunications market
Commercial proposal ownership
Strong stakeholder management and the ability to work credibly with sales teams, technical teams, suppliers and customers
Analytical and commercially minded, with the confidence to challenge assumptions and improve solution quality
Qualifications

A 3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience

Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week . All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business.

Salary
€60,000 - €70,000 per annum (depending on experience)
