Job Purpose
The QA/QC Manager will report directly to the Managing Director & COO. Your direct reports will consist of Quality control & Testing Engineers. You will ensure all electrical panels are manufactured, inspected, tested and documented to the required standard before dispatch.
The role combines practical inspection and testing with the development of standardised procedures and preventative quality controls throughout production.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure panels comply with approved drawings, specifications, company standards and applicable regulations.
- Confirm all defects are corrected and rechecked before approval.
- Develop and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, inspection checklists and testing records.
- Introduce in-process quality checks to identify issues before final testing.
- Ensure quality documentation is accurate, complete and traceable.
- Record and investigate defects and recurring quality issues.
- Identify root causes and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Standardise workmanship, assembly, wiring, labelling and finishing requirements across the factory.
- Identify training or competency gaps and coordinate appropriate training, mentoring or shadowing.
- Work with Production, CAD, Project Management, Purchasing and Stores to resolve quality issues.
- Report quality trends, risks and improvement actions to Senior Management.
Authority
The QA/QC Manager may:
- Stop or hold work that does not meet the required quality or safety standard.
- Prevent a panel from being dispatched until all defects and documentation issues are resolved.
- Require corrective work to be reinspected or retested.
- Escalate repeated or serious quality failures to Senior Management.
Experience and Skills
- Strong practical knowledge of electrical panel manufacturing, wiring, inspection and testing.
- Ability to identify defects and deviations from required standards.
- Strong attention to detail, organisation and record keeping.
- Ability to communicate and enforce quality requirements clearly.
- Knowledge of IEC/EN 61439 is desirable.
- A relevant electrical, testing or quality qualification is desirable; substantial practical experience may be considered in its place.

- Reduced defects, rework and customer complaints.
- Consistent panel build and finishing standards.
- Accurate and complete QA/QC documentation.
- Earlier identification of issues during production.
- Effective implementation of procedures, training and corrective actions.
