Nursing Practice Development Co-Ordinator
We are actively seeking to recruit a Nursing Practice Development Co-ordinator for the Mater Private Hospital in Cork.
Reporting to the Director of Nursing, he/she will co-ordinate the Nurse Practice Development activities which will, develop, implement, monitor and evaluate nurse practice in all areas of the hospital and promote an environment for professional nursing practice and an environment of quality and safe patient care. Provide a professional role model which is consistent with the mission, vision, values, and strategic direction of the organization. Manage the nursing service quality assurance programmes to meet standards for quality assured and safe care. Ensure student nurses are provided with optimal learning environments
Main duties and responsibilities will include:

Implementation of an annual nurse practice development programme throughout the hospital and to monitor its effectiveness
- To provide leadership on quality and safety issues and manage and implement an annual nursing service practice development and improvement plan

To take a lead role in quality and safety governance and accreditation committees relating to patient safety
- Co-ordinate associated monitoring/audit mechanisms with particular reference to measuring nursing related patient safety, satisfaction and outcomes

Conduct regular education and training needs assessment for the nursing workforce

To provide the necessary information for nurse management to permit the determination of the appropriate skill/grade mix
Candidate Requirements
Current NMBI Registration.
Minimum of 5 years post registration experience including a minimum of two years (2) experience/involvement in clinical practice management, practice development, education or quality improvement.
Strong values and commitment to patient Safety & Quality
Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
Ability to work on their own initiative and to be self motivated.
