About the Role
Collooney Afterschool is a warm, nurturing afterschool service based at St. Paul's National School. We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Afterschool Assistant to support the daily care and activities of school-age children in a safe and stimulating environment.
This position offers 20 hours per week across Monday to Friday (1:45pm–5:45pm), running during school term time only.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage children in age-appropriate activities including arts and crafts, outdoor play, and homework support
- Assist in preparing and serving healthy snacks in line with the service's nutrition policy
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment at all times
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, and school staff
- Follow all Tusla-compliant policies and procedures, including child safeguarding and health & safety protocols
- Support children's individual needs and promote their social and emotional wellbeing
- Assist with record-keeping and daily registers as required
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with school-age children in a childcare or educational setting
- Garda Vetting (current or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine passion for working with children
Desirable
- First Aid certification (Paediatric First Aid preferred)
- Experience in an afterschool or out-of-school setting
Pay: €15.00 per hour
