We are looking for a skilled and detail-orientated Wood Machinist / Cabinetmaker to join our worktop team. In this role you will be responsible for our bespoke wood products - from reading technical drawings, setting up cutting lists, operating machinery, assembling and finishing high-quality bespoke joinery.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of different wood materials and excellent control over workshop machinery, with experience using panel saws, and CNC machinery. With at least 4 years experience in manufacturing kitchen cabinets, construction of bespoke cabinets, doors and fitted furniture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machining: set up, calibrate and safely operate a variety of woodworking machinery including a panel saw; router; planer; and CNC.
- Joinery & assembly: build and assemble high-quality timber products such as custom kitchen cabinetry; doors, canopy's; cornice; timber frames etc.
- Technical Reading: interpret detailed technical drawings, factory plans, produce cutting lists and calculate materials and production steps accurately.
- Material Selection: Inspect and select the appropriate wood material for each job, minimise wastage and order new stock.
- Quality Control: Ensure all finished components meet the dimensional specs and visible quality standards before they leave the factory.
- Safety: Maintain a clean work environment and strictly adhere to workshop health and safety rules (including use PPE, dust extraction and machine guards).
Skills and Requirements:
- Experience: Proven experience as a wood machinist, joiner or cabinetmaker. With 4 years experience in manufacturing kitchen cabinets.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of woodworking machinery and hand tools. Experience with panel saw essential and CNC is a major plus.
- Qualifications: Level 5/6 NFQ or equivalent trade qualification in Wood Machining / Joinery / Cabinetmaking is preferred but strong practical experience is also considered.
