We're looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking Sales Assistant to join our busy garden centre team. This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. If you enjoy working with people, being active, and don't mind rolling up your sleeves, we'd love to hear from you.
About the Role
As a Sales Assistant, you'll spend most of your day on the shop floor helping customers, maintaining displays, replenishing stock, and ensuring the garden centre is presented to a high standard. You'll also assist customers with larger purchases such as garden furniture, barbecues, compost, paving products, and other bulky items.
This is a physically demanding role involving manual handling, lifting, carrying, and being on your feet throughout an 8.5 hour shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing friendly, knowledgeable customer service.
- Advising customers on a wide range of garden centre products.
- Selling seasonal items including garden furniture and BBQs.
- Replenishing stock and maintaining attractive displays.
- Assisting customers with loading compost, bark and other heavy products.
- Keeping the shop floor clean, tidy, and well organised.
- Receiving deliveries and moving stock safely around the garden centre.
- Operating equipment where appropriately trained.
What We're Looking For
- A positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.
- A strong work ethic and willingness to work as part of a busy team.
- Good level of physical fitness and ability to undertake manual handling throughout the day.
- Confidence speaking with customers and helping them find the right products.
- Reliability, punctuality, and flexibility.
- Previous retail or garden centre experience is desirable but not essential.
Desirable Qualifications
- Forklift licence (advantageous).
- Full clean driving licence (preferred).
