Commercial Manager – M&E
Designer Group is experiencing sustained growth and is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join our Commercial Department as part of a major expansion phase.
This is a senior role offering real influence across live projects, teams, and commercial strategy, within a leading international mechanical & electrical contractor delivering complex, high-value engineering projects.
The Role
You will provide commercial leadership across multiple projects, managing and developing a team of Quantity Surveyors while ensuring robust cost control, risk management, cash flow, and commercial governance.
Working closely with Contracts Managers, the Commercial Director, clients, and the wider supply chain, you will play a key role in maximising project value and protecting commercial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop a high-performing commercial / QS team

Own commercial cost control, forecasting, reporting, and cash flow

Manage subcontractor procurement, valuations, and final accounts

Oversee variations, risk management, and commercial change control

Support contract strategy, tender risk analysis, and claims management

Build strong client and PQS relationships to support successful delivery
Requirements
-
Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline

10+ years’ experience in a senior commercial role within M&E or engineering contracting

Strong leadership and stakeholder management capability

Commercially astute, detail-focused, and confident operating at senior level
