About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Engineering Lead to join our growing team in Cavan. This is a senior leadership position responsible for managing a team of office-based engineers and BIM technicians while providing technical support to both off-site manufacturing and on-site construction and installation teams.
The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating engineering activities, ensuring project deliverables are achieved, maintaining high technical standards, and driving continuous improvement across the department.
This role requires a strong leader who can effectively manage people, delegate responsibilities, prioritise workloads, and maintain clear communication with internal teams, clients, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop a team of engineers and BIM technicians.
- Allocate resources and delegate work effectively to ensure project deadlines are achieved.
- Oversee the production and coordination of engineering deliverables, BIM models, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams throughout design, procurement, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and handover phases.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Contracts Managers, Commercial Teams, and Site Management to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support off-site fabrication and manufacturing activities through effective engineering coordination.
- Assist site teams in resolving technical issues and ensuring design intent is maintained during installation.
- Drive engineering standards, quality, and compliance across all projects.
- Review and approve engineering designs, calculations, specifications, and technical submissions.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, standardisation, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and BIM personnel.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professional development within the engineering department.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years' experience within the construction, mechanical, or building services industry.
- Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and building services systems.
- Experience supporting construction and installation teams on large-scale projects.
- Excellent organisational and project coordination skills.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership, delegation, and team development capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery requirements.
Desirable
- Experience within data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, healthcare, or commercial construction sectors.
- Knowledge of BIM processes and coordination.
- Experience with off-site manufacturing or modular construction.
