Main Responsibilities
- The trainee will be trained to become a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technician
- The Trainee will be expected to assist the senior technicians in all disciplines of inspection which will include Visual, DPI, MPI Radiography, PMI & Ultrasonic Testing.
- Learning of all NDT disciplines provided by GQI and sitting final exams in order to gain qualification.
- Adhere to all Safety and Quality company procedures, complete test reports (once competent)
- The technician will be onsite testing pipelines, vessels and other pharmaceutical plant equipment using NDT techniques
- Maintaining and evaluating the condition of NDT equipment
- Working shift or out of hours as the company requires – the successful candidate will be expected to be flexible in hours available to work
Work Environment
- The work place will predominantly be on a pharmaceutical site but other site requirements may be required (all travel costs paid for by the company)
- Work hours will be predominantly 08:00-16:30 Mon-Thurs, 08:00-15:30 Friday but out of these work hours will be required
- Working with radioactive sources will be periodically required
- An NDT Technician requires a high level of attention to detail and concentration when inspecting and reporting jobs
Requirements
- Education: A good degree of English is required in the reading and writing department
- Licence: A full driver’s licence is required
- Physical demands: The inspection trade demands a good level of sight (including colour blind test). When performing some NDT tasks there can be varying access issues including confined space and working at height, so a basic level of fitness is required. Some equipment can also be heavy. (Annual medicals required)
- Flexibility: Shift work and extra hours may be required, mostly during the week (all hours paid)
- Skills: Good computer skills (word/excel) is preferable at entry level to the company; a higher level of skill is required when progressing from trainee to qualified technician
Beneficial Skills:
- 3rd level education, mechanical/welding experience
- Good decision making, strong focus, can operate in a stressful environment
- Ideally the candidate will live within 30mins of the Ballydine area
Contract Details:
This job opportunity is based on a 12-month trial period, upon successful completion of trial, a permanent full-time contract may be offered.
